Resident Trapped When Tree Falls Into House
A building inspector ruled the home uninhabitable.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — A large tree fell into a Rohnert Park home, trapping a resident inside.
It happened around 1 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Myrtle Avenue. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center received a 911 about a tree that had fallen through the roof of a residence.
"The caller said a person was still trapped inside the residence; however, they did not appear to be injured," Acting Watch Commander Dan Hargreaves said.

Police and fire personnel responded and freed the trapped person from the residence.

A large part of a eucalyptus tree broke off during a strong wind and fell into the residence, causing significant structural damage to the roof of the home.

A building inspector from the city of Rohnert Park ruled the home uninhabitable. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the resident.
Several nearby residents reported strong winds before the tree fell, Hargreaves said.
"We are glad this resident escaped injury considering the size of the tree."
