Restaurant Owner Fired Gun At Man After Fight Over Bill: Police

The man was injured in the fight but was not hit by the gunfire, according to police.

SANTA ROSA, CA — A restaurant owner faces several charges after he assaulted a man and fired a gun while at the business in Santa Rosa, police said.

Moises Flores, 48, is charged with assault with a gun, shooting at an empty vehicle, violating probation and being a felon with a gun, according to police.

Officers responded shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday to a reported shooting at Dos Culturas in the 1700 block of Santa Rosa Avenue, where they found a 37-year-old man who had been assaulted by Flores, who was still at the restaurant, police said.

The two men had been drinking alcohol at the business when a fight broke out over a bill, with the pair eventually moving outside, according to police. Flores went and got a handgun from inside, pointed it at the man and fired, shooting the rear window of a parked car but not the man, police said.

The man suffered minor injuries from the fight, police said. Detectives found a revolver and live ammunition in the restaurant kitchen, according to police.

Flores was on probation for 2023 gun and driving under the influence violations and was prohibited from having a gun or drinking alcohol, police said. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail, according to police.
