Yeltchey was driving a Prius, and believed the bicyclist hit his vehicle with his hand, according to police.

The bicyclist turned into Blackies Pasture and was riding down the Old Rail Trail when the suspect stopped at the intersection of Tiburon Boulevard and San Rafael Avenue, got out of his vehicle and approached the victim with a knife in his hand, police said.

The victim grabbed Yeltchey and knocked him to the ground, police said.

A witness in the area assisted the victim in subduing and holding down Yeltchey until officers arrived, police said.

Because of the suspect’s age, medical history and injuries incurred in the altercation, the Tiburon Fire Protection District transported the suspect to Marin General Hospital for a medical check and clearance before being jailed, police said.

“Please practice patience on the roads and do not engage in other drivers’ frustration or rage,” the Tiburon Police Department said in a statement. “You never know if a weapon is involved or how far an incident may escalate.”

Anyone who experiences road rage is urged to stay in their vehicle and call police.
