Rohnert Park Officer Assaulted At Domestic Disturbance Call: Police
A Rohnert Park man was jailed on suspicion of assaulting two of his family members as well the officer.
ROHNERT PARK, CA — A Rohnert Park man was jailed on suspicion of elder abuse and assaulting a police officer Saturday when the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety responded to a domestic disturbance.
At 8:40 a.m. Saturday, dispatchers received a call for service in a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 600 block of Enterprise Drive. As officers responded, dispatchers heard what was believed to be a physical altercation in the background.
The first officer on the scene was met by a man at the front door. The officer saw blood on the man's clothing and believed people inside may be injured so she gave the man orders that he refused to follow, Deputy Chief Kevin Kilgore said in a news release.

As the officer tried to detain the man, he began fighting her and pushed the officer into a wall and then into shrubbery just outside the front door of the home, Kilgore said. The man continued fighting the officer, causing her to strike her head on the concrete porch, according to police.
When more officers arrived, they saw the man on top of the officer, straddling her body and physically fighting and restraining her. The officers removed the man from atop the officer and placed him into handcuffs as was still physically resisting.

The injured officer was taken to an area hospital and treated for the injuries.
Officers determined the man assaulted his mother and threatened his adult brother, who were both inside the home with him at the time of the incident, Kilgore said.
Alex Arrescurrenaga, 31, of Rohnert Park, was arrested on suspicion of resisting a peace officer, aggravated battery causing serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, and one misdemeanor count of battery.
After he was medically cleared at an area hospital, Arrescurrenaga was booked into Sonoma County jail and held on a $100,000 bond. He remained in custody Monday with a court appearance set for Tuesday morning.
As of Monday, the injured officer was doing well and had returned to work, Kilgore told Patch.
