3 Arrests Made In Shooting That Injured Boy, 16, On Copeland Creek Trail In Rohnert Park

A 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his head in the shooting six months ago near Santa Alicia Drive.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety made three arrests this week in connection with a shooting six months ago on the Copeland Creek Trail.

Officers responded to reports of an altercation and a gunshot at 11 p.m. Sept. 13 on the Copeland Creek Trail near Santa Alicia Drive and found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.

The teen was rushed to an area hospital and as a result of the medical treatment he received, he survived his injuries, Rohnert Park DPS Deputy Chief Kevin Kilgore said in a news release.

No suspects were found at the time of the incident but detectives continued a lengthy, six-month investigation.

The first arrest was made Wednesday. A 17-year-old boy was booked into Los Guilicos Juvenile Hall on suspicion of four felony counts of attempted murder, one felony count of conspiracy, and one felony count of possession of a machine gun.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested Wednesday and was booked into Los Guilicos Juvenile Hall on suspicion of one felony count of conspiracy.

The third arrest was made Thursday. Freddy Rafaelano-Rivera, 20, of Rohnert Park, was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of one felony count of conspiracy. Rafaelano-Rivera was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Police did not disclose the names of the two boys arrested Wednesday.
