Rohnert Park School Vandalism Suspect Arrested

The elementary school had to be closed earlier this week because of the extent of the vandalism.

ROHNERT PART, CA β€” An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a break-in and vandalism that canceled classes at an elementary school in Rohnert Park earlier this week, authorities said Thursday.

Police said David Beach allegedly vandalized multiple classrooms at John Reed Elementary School early Monday morning.

A school alarm alerted police, and officers responded within minutes to the school, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The excessive damage prompted the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District to cancel classes on Monday at the school, located at 390 Arlen Drive.

Beach was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary, grand theft and vandalism and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

Police didn't release any other information about Beach or the vandalism, and said the case is under investigation.
