Rohnert Park Selects Former Suisun PD Chief As New DPS Director

Chief Tim Mattos said he looks forward to building on Rohnert Park's community-oriented public safety policing.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” The city of Rohnert Park selected the former Suisun City police chief as its new director of the Department of Public Safety, city officials said Wednesday. Tim Mattos, 55, starts his new job Dec. 28. He currently is interim city manager of Suisun City.

The Rohnert Park City Council approved Mattos' appointment Tuesday.

Mattos was an investigator with the Marin County District Attorney's Office and a sergeant and officer in the Woodland Police Department. He was the Suisun City Police Department's operations commander between 2008 and 2015 when he was named police chief.

Mattos said he looks forward to building on Rohnert Park's community-oriented public safety policy.

The nationwide search for Rohnert Park's Department of Public Safety director drew 29 applicants, Rohnert Park city manager Darrin Jenkins said.

Former Sebastopol police Chief Jeff Weaver served as the interim director of the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety after Brian Masterson retired.
