Santa Rosa Motorcycle Crash: Harley Rider Suffers Major Injuries

The collision closed eastbound Piner Road between Bay Village Circle and the railroad tracks until around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” A motorcycle rider suffered major and possibly life-threatening injuries in a collision with a vehicle in west Santa Rosa on Tuesday evening, police said. Police received calls around 6:50 p.m. about a motorcyclist who might have crashed into the railroad crossing arms on Piner Road.

The motorcycle rider was found on the ground and was taken to a hospital.

Investigators determined the rider of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling east in the left lane of Piner Road when it struck the rear of a Volvo sedan that either was stopped or had just started moving
forward, police said.

A southbound train had just crossed Piner Road and the crossing arms were either opening or had just opened at the time of the collision, police said.

The driver of the Volvo and two passengers were taken to a hospital as a precaution, but it does not appear they suffered major injuries, police said.
