Sonoma County Not Clearing Coleman Creek up To 48” Outlet!

So they cut down some trees, left them, and left the dead, hanging tree branches still hanging. And the Creek still full of Vegetation.

John with Sonoma county small streams management has decided not to clean out the vegetation in the whole creek starting at the 48 inch outlet at G Park. He has decided to just do the straight part from the 36 inch outlet coming from the H section. The Coleman Creek starts at the 48 inch outlet with the Coleman creek open V Ditch starts. The creek flooded years ago and deposited 2 feet of backed up sediment in the open V ditch and the county has refused to remove it. I told them all they have to do is test the dirt and they can find out where it came from, which is in the fields above the G section. During the flooding years age. So they put in a secondary drain line to handle the flow but since there’s 2 feet of backed up sediment in the V ditch the 48 inch discharge line Has to fill up halfway before it starts going down the creek past the wooden walk bridge. Now Mark Henderson from Rohnert Park water district knows all about it because we met out there after it happened and they have done nothing to fix the problem and it’s only getting worse because kids play in the V Ditch which has heavy metals in it from the street run off. These contaminants contain lead and benzene. So now after talking to the crew that decided to skip the first section by the basketball courts and then by G park where there are miscellaneous limbs hanging over, broken ready to fall and the crew come through at the start of the job, and cut down a bunch of the smaller trees but just left them on the side. And left the big hanging branches that are broken. So I called his boss and left a message telling him what’s going on in the G section.
