Stolen Firearm, Live Ammo, Spent Shells Recovered In Sonoma County: Police

Police say they have arrested a man on suspicion of numerous offenses, including possessing a stolen firearm, Sunday night in Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- Police say they arrested a man on suspicion of numerous offenses, including possessing a stolen firearm, Sunday night in Santa Rosa.

At 11:25 p.m. on May 7, police received a call from a resident in the 2800 block of Apple Valley Lane reporting a group of males around a vehicle playing loud music.

Police say that when officers responded, they contacted a male subject sitting inside a white Chevy pickup truck parked in a carport in the rear of Apple Valley Lane, and that the male subject started reaching around the inside of the vehicle as officers approached. The officers then had the subject exit the truck, at which point they could see the grip of a handgun partially covered by a sweatshirt sitting on the car seat, police said.

Officers recovered a .40 caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in 2003, as well as several spent shell casings and live ammunition from inside the vehicle, police said.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Eloy Solorio-Hernandez of Santa Rosa. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property, a stolen firearm, narcotics paraphernalia and
violating probation.
