Suspicious Device At Tech High Deemed Safe: Rohnert Park DPS

Students no longer needed to shelter in place, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” A suspicious device found Tuesday morning at Technology High School in Rohnert Park was deemed safe by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office bomb squad, authorities said.

"It was removed from the campus," the Rohnert Prak Department of Public Safety said in an update sent at 10:37 a.m. "Students are no longer advised to shelter in place and classes will resume."

In an earlier message sent at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday, Rohnert Park DPS said it was investigating a suspicious device found by a staff member on school grounds at the 550 Bonnie Ave. campus.

The sheriff's office Explosive Device Team β€” aka bomb squad β€” responded to help with the investigation.

As a precaution, students were asked to shelter in place.

Rohnert Park DPS did not describe the device or say why it was initially thought to be suspicious.
