SWAT Team Takes Felon Into Custody After He Sends Threatening Texts To Ex: Police

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A 34-year-old man was arrested by the Sonoma County Sheriff SWAT team in Rohnert Park on Saturday after he allegedly sent his ex-wife threatening text messages, police say.

Police said the ex-wife of Jonathan Galvez called 911 around 5:40 a.m. on April 15 reporting that Galvez had sent her text messages threatening to assault her and her current husband.

According to police, the text messages included photos of Galvez pointing a handgun at the camera and holding a large bag of what appeared to be cocaine.

The victim told police she felt that Galvez would carry out the threats mentioned in the text messages, and that the issue stemmed from a custody dispute over their daughter. An Emergency Protective Order was immediately obtained to protect the victims, police say.

According to authorities, Galvez is a convicted felon and isn't allowed to possess a firearm. A warrant for his arrest was obtained for suspicion of felony criminal threats, along with a warrant to search his home.

Rohnert Park police requested assistance from the Sonoma County Sheriff's SWAT team given the threats made by Galvez, and the photo of him holding a handgun.

Around 2:45 p.m., the SWAT team arrived at his residence in the 4000 block of Sebastopol Road in Santa Rosa and called for him to surrender.

He came out of his house and was taken into custody without incident. A search of his home yielded ammunition for the gun he was seen holding in the text messages, but the gun itself was not found.

Additionally police said SWAT teams allegedly found evidence of narcotic use in the home.

Galvez was booked into the Sonoma County Jail where he's being held on $250,000 bail.
