Teen Cited In Rohnert Park Community Center Vandalism

A parent reported he recognized some of the graffiti inside the Gold Ridge Recreation Center and said his son may have been responsible.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” A 16-year-old has been cited for a vandalism incident this week at the Gold Ridge Recreation Center in Rohnert Park. On Wednesday, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was notified of a break-in at the community center at 1445 Golf Course Drive. Investigators found pry-marks on an exterior door to the center, and there was extensive damage inside the building.

The inside of the building was covered with graffiti, broken mirrors and glass, broken ceiling tiles and damaged sheetrock.

Investigators believe the damage was caused sometime in the last month.

Officers posted pictures of the damage on Facebook, and on Wednesday, a parent reported he recognized some of the graffiti inside the center and said his son may have been responsible.

The parents brought in their 16-year-old son to the RPDPS main station, and the son confessed to vandalizing the center, police said.

The teen was cited for vandalism and released to his parents, and there is an investigation into possible additional suspects involved in the incident.
