Five 15-year-old boys are accused of vandalizing the school and causing an estimated $5,000 in damage, police said.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Five 15-year-old boys were arrested last week after they allegedly vandalized the closed Herbert Slater Middle School campus in Santa Rosa, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage, police said.
The Santa Rosa Police Department said it was notified of the vandalism on Sunday at the former campus on Sonoma Avenue that closed in June.
School district staff and a police evidence technician found multiple rooms damaged, including overturned furniture in the locker rooms, a broken skylight in the weight room, a torn theater curtain, and a damaged television, police said.

Investigators reviewed campus security footage and identified the suspects as 10th-grade students from Montgomery High School, where former Slater students now attend, a press release issued Thursday by Santa Rosa police noted.
On Thursday, officers, working with school officials, removed the boys from class and arrested them on suspicion of felony vandalism, burglary, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
