Tinted Windows, Ghost Gun: Routine Traffic Stop Ends In Felony Charges
A routine CHP traffic stop ends with the arrest of a driver and felony charges over a ghost gun, an increasingly common North Bay firearm.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — What began as a routine traffic stop involving a vehicle with tinted windows on SR-116 near Neeley Road ended in the arrest of the driver and felony gun charges.
A California Highway Patrol officer stopped the car in Guerneville on a violation because of the tinted windows, according to a social media post.
CHP said the driver gave the officer a fake ID, leading to a search and, ultimately, the discovery of a loaded, unregistered ghost gun — an untraceable firearm with no serial number purchased as a kit or in separate pieces— equipped with a high-capacity magazine concealed in the driver's waistband.
