Santa Rosa Student Carries Pitbull On Bike To Escape North Bay Fires: Report
As Natasha Wallace sat trapped in traffic, she realized the wildfire was approaching quickly.

SANTA ROSA, CA β Fleeing the wildfires that threatened her Santa Rosa home, Natasha Wallace found herself stranded in traffic as the flames began to catch up with her, according to a dramatic report from KTXL. She had another option β her bike β but she also had Bentley.
With the wildfire spreading faster than the cars on the freeway, Wallace knew she and the 4-year-old pit bull needed to get out of there fast. She abandoned her Honda, but she had to find a way to bring Bentley.
"I would never part ways with my dog. ever," Wallace told KTXL. "That's my ride or die. Oh my God, literally." (For more coverage of the wildfires and other local news, subscribe for free to the Rohnert Park-Cotati Patch and receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Grabbing Bentley, she said, "Hey man, this is serious, you need to just sit in the bag." He understood, and he jumped in the duffle bag. Wallace propped him up on her handle bars and began biking.
She and Bentley raced to escape the flames, moving faster on two wheels than they could have on four. But thankfully, she didn't have to go very far. After a few miles, a man in a truck scooped Wallace and the pit bull up, taking them the rest of the way to safety.
