Woman Trapped After Overturned Pickup Plunges Into Water

Authorities say the woman was able to keep her head above water in the cab, and was rescued on Valley Ford Road east of state Highway 1.

BLOOMFIELD, SONOMA COUNTY - A female passenger was trapped in a pickup truck that overturned on flood-prone Valley Ford Road east of state Highway 1 near Bloomfield in Sonoma County Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pickup truck overturned around 12:40 p.m. and was submerged in water about 30 feet off the road.

The driver got out but a female passenger was trapped, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The woman was able to keep her head above water and was freed and taken by a CHP helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital around 2 p.m., according to the Sloat.
