Yellow-Eyed Wolf-Hybrid Captured, Reunited With Owner

The yellow-eyed wolf-hybrid is actually a pet named Shadow, North Bay Animal Services reported.

SEBASTOPOL, CA — The yellow-eyed wolf-hybrid spotted near the outskirts of Sebastopol that led to numerous social media posts and warnings by police has been captured and returned to its owner.

After the initial sighting, the dog, who answers to the name Shadow, was last seen heading south of the Highway 12 bridge on the eastern edge of the city.

Not knowing it was a pet, police urged people not to approach it.

"Shadow the wolfdog has been caught and is back home safe and sound! With the incredible teamwork of our Animal Control Officers, Shadows pack members, Max and Sky, along with the help of Shadow's owner, we successfully reunited him with his loving family," North Bay Animal Services said on Facebook Monday, Nov. 6.

North Bay Animal Services thanked "vigilant community members" who reported sightings of the dog.
