Crime Watch: Aggressive Panhandler Arrested, Vehicle Break-ins, More

A roundup of crime from the Roseville Police Department.

Panhandler Arrested, Made Criminal Threats

At 9:14 a.m. on Oct. 25, a male panhandler approached a woman in the Brickyard shopping center parking lot and aggressively asked her for money.  He cursed at her and threatened to harm her if she didn't give him money.  The woman got in her car, locked her doors and called 911. Officers responded, located the suspect, a 31-year-old Roseville man, and arrested him on suspicion of attempted robbery and making criminal threats.

According to Roseville Police, it's illegal to aggressively panhandle (ask people for money or other assistance in an aggressive, threatening or overly persistent manner), or to stand near an ATM and ask people for money.  You don't have to give money to panhandlers-you can refer them to local service providers, like The Gathering Inn, St. Vincent de Paul or the Salvation Army, for help with food, shelter, clothing and other needs.   If someone asks you for money and makes you feel uncomfortable or threatened, call police immediately.
