One of Urban Dictionary's definitions for a foodie is: Simply put a foodie is someone who loves everything there is to know or learn about food. That’s me and I have a feeling many others in Roseville. So, in an attempt to keep all of you Roseville foodies up-to-date with the news surrounding our restaurant community, I introduce you to Foodie News: a new column where I’ll let you in on some of the food news going on here in Roseville.
Here, I’ll be filling you in on new menu items, special deals, new hours, new chef announcements and any other foodie news that comes my way.

Now Open for Lunch – Suede Blue
is now open for lunch – starting today. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, the steak and seafood house will be cooking up some lunch-time options. Their menu includes sandwiches, like Asian Crab Cake Sliders, salads such as a Filet Mignon Salad, appetizers like Portobello Mushroom Fries and entrees like Angus Flat Iron Steak and Pesto Chicken Pasta.

Paul Martin’s Announces New Menu Items
It’s all about lighter fare in new dishes at . There are two soups making menu debuts this month including a roasted tomato soup topped with fresh basil pesto and local corn and quinoa chowder. Heirloom tomatoes seem to be the new salad theme at Paul Martin’s. They’re introducing a tomato and burrata (meaning butter in Italian) cheese salad and a Tuna Nicoise. Free Fries at The Counter
in Roseville is keeping up their end of the deal: They reportedly promised free fries if Congress made a debt deal. Friday, Aug. 19 is when they’ll be handing out free single orders of regular or sweet potato fries, according to the Sacramento Magazine. So while you’re working up an appetite shopping at the , stop in for some complimentary calories.
La Provence Offers Cool-Down Prix Fixe Menu
Did you know that a $20 bill can get you a three-course menu at ? The deal lasts through Saturday, Aug. 20, but is a hard one to pass up. The “Let’s Get Cool” three-course menu includes a starter of either soup or salad, a Plats Principaux of salmon, grilled chicken or grilled hanger steak, a melon granita dessert and a lemon drop. It’s La Provence’s effort to savor the last days of summer.
Krispy Kreme Opening in Roseville
Mark your calendars now for Sept. 20, when Krispy Kreme is scheduled to open in Roseville, according to the Sacramento Bee. The new location, at 10317 Fairway Drive, will serve as a donut factory and store. We’re excited. Are you?
