Police: Alcohol a Suspected Factor in Life-Threatening Crash

Two Sacramento residents are in the hospital after a serious accident.

Roseville Police suspect alcohol may be a factor in a Friday night crash that sent a 23-year-old Sacramento woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and hospitalized her 19-year-old passenger.

Around 7:40 p.m., the driver crashed into a van being driven by a 59-year-old Rancho Cordova man who was not injured, police say.

The Roseville Police Department is investigating a major injury collision on Foothills Boulevard south of McAnally Drive.  At 7:40 p.m., a Roseville police officer driving north on Foothills Boulevard saw a car being driven southbound on Foothills at a high rate of speed.  The officer made a u-turn in order to get behind the speeding car, a 1997 Toyota Avalon four-door sedan, but by the time he made the turn, the Toyota sedan had collided with a 1990 Dodge van that was making a right turn out of a shopping center onto southbound Foothills.  The sedan spun and traveled up onto a landscaping embankment in front of the shopping center.

The driver of the Toyota sedan, a 23-year-old woman from Sacramento, was taken to the hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.  Her passenger, a 19-year-old man from Sacramento, was also taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the van, a 59-year-old man from Rancho Cordova, didn’t report being injured.
