Poll: Should There be a Cap on City Management Salaries?

Friends of Roseville, or FORE, is circulating a petition with a focus on trying to cap Roseville city managements' pay. Do you think this is necessary?

A local watchdog group, Friends of Roseville, or FORE, is collecting signatures for two petitions, one of which could put a cap to city management salaries.

It’s likely that you recently received the latest FOREfront newsletter with news of these petitions that have been circulating. According to the newsletter, there are two petitions on two measures to be placed on a ballot in the future.

The first measure would “impose a salary cap on management/confidential and city council appointed (i.e., non-union) employees, and on contract, emergency, and part-time employees.”

The second measure would “add a requirement for an elected public utility commission (PUC) of seven members and would give the PUC the responsibility and authority to approve utility rates,” not the city council.

Currently, Roseville City Manager Ray Kerridge’s salary is about $250,000 annually. Under the cap, he and others in city management positions, would have their annual salaries under about $165,000.
