Roseville Middle, High Schools Meet State API Target

Roseville middle and high school students continue to improve in state testing.

Wednesday, the state released Academic Performance Index scores, which showed that all middle and high schools within Roseville’s districts reached the state’s goal for API scores.

Roseville middle schools not only met the 800 API score target, but well surpassed it. Among Roseville high schools, every traditional school improved its score as well, bringing ’s score for the 2010-11 school year up to 823.

API scores consist of a single score ranging from 200 to 1,000 that reflects a school’s performance level based on the results of statewide testing. Educators use the scores to gauge how well schools and districts are performing academically.

and were the only two Roseville middle schools that did not improve, but both were already high to begin with. At George A. Buljan Middle School, the score did not improve or decrease from the previous year – it stayed steady at 854. Silverado Middle School slipped down one point to an API score of 878, but is the third highest-scoring middle school among Roseville school districts for API scores.

takes the honor of the highest-scoring middle school in Roseville, with an API score of 928. Willma Cavitt Junior High follows with a score of 905.

At the high school level, Granite Bay High came in highest with a score of 867, followed by Woodcreek at 848 and Oakmont at 824.

But how did each district do in its scores?

All Roseville school districts continue to improve. The Roseville area is also home to one of the top scoring districts in the region. Eureka Union School District, which has schools in Granite Bay and Roseville, had an API of 907, the only district with an API above 900 in the region. The district is also the highest scoring among Sacramento, Yolo and Placer counties in API scores.

Roseville Joint Union High School District has a score of 823 – a 12-point jump from its 2010 score. Tony Monetti, district superintendent, in a letter to parents, said the district continues to improve steadily.

“Every comprehensive high school showed gains in the Academic Performance Index (API) with every comprehensive school near or over 800, and double digit growth for three schools,” he wrote.

At Dry Creek Joint Elementary, their district score is at 864, three points higher than last year. Roseville City Elementary School District’s score of 872 is six points higher than 2010.
