STAR Scores: Olympus Junior High Top Scoring

is the strongest of the Roseville area’s middle, junior high and intermediate schools, according to STAR scores.

Released Monday, the California Standards Tests test students in grades 2 through 11 in English, Math, science and history. The 2011 STAR results show Olympus High School scores were highest among the area middle, junior and intermediate schools in English, history and math. Olympus is within the Eureka Union School District and located in Roseville.

In English, 89.9 percent of students scored “advanced or proficient” and in math, 79.8 percent of students reached the advanced or proficient level at Olympus High. Olympus' scores are followed closely by Cavitt Junior High School, also within Eureka Unified.

In science, Cavitt had the highest percentage of advanced or proficient students at 90.5 percent. Olympus followed at 87.8 percent.

However, at both Creekview Ranch and George R. Buljan, their percentage of advanced or proficient scores went up in various subjects from 2010 STAR scores. At Creekview Ranch, scores went up in English, science and history. At George R. Buljan, scores went up in history and math since last year, according to results.
