Suspect Arrested in Gas Station Burglary

Herbert Carl Arnell Jr. of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of recent burglaries in Roseville and Sacramento County.

A Sacramento man was arrested recently for in Roseville March 31.

Wednesday, Roseville Police released surveillance video showing a suspect burglarizing a gas station convenience store during the early hours of March 31.  Local media outlets, including Roseville Patch, shared the video with the public, and Roseville Police detectives received leads that helped make an arrest.

On April 5, Roseville Police and Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies searched the home of a parolee on El Camino Avenue in Sacramento, where they found empty cash register trays, as well as illegal drugs and evidence of drug sales.

Roseville officers took Herbert Carl Arnell Jr., 40, of Sacramento into custody on suspicion of committing the March 31 burglary.  He is being investigated in connection with other similar commercial burglaries in Roseville and Sacramento County. 

According to the earlier report from Roseville Police, the suspect used a rock to smash a window and break into the 76 gas station and convenience store on Sunrise Avenue and Cirby Way on March 31. The burglar stole the store’s cash register.

Arnell is being held in the Placer County Jail without bail on suspicion of burglary and violation of parole.
