Weekend Planner: Art Walk, Skateboarding Dog, Synchronized Swim Record, More

Looking for something to do this weekend in Roseville? Haunted houses are now open, there's a breast cancer fundraiser at a salon, an author brunch and more.

Friday, Oct. 14

Synchronized Swimming Record – Local synchronized swimmers hope to break a Guinness World Record by attempting to create the largest synchronized swimming float formation in the shape of a pink ribbon. The float is an educational and fundraising event that benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation and all weekend the swimmers will be highlighting the importance of breast and skin cancer prevention. The record attempt is at the Roseville Aquatics Center and runs through Sunday, Oct. 16. More information and the schedule are available here.

Salon Benefit – If you’re in need of a new ‘do or are considering adding a pink feather extension to your hairstyle, check out for their breast cancer awareness fundraiser. From 4-8 p.m. Friday, proceeds from pink extensions, hair tinsel, Pink Shatter polish and other treatments will go to the Placer Breast Cancer Endowment. Corbett’s House of Horror – 's four themed haunted houses are open at 1120 Galleria Blvd. across from the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. Haunted house themes are Hollywood Experience, Medical Center, Crazy Carnival and House of Horror. The houses open 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7-10 p.m. Sunday. Callson Manor Haunted House – Zombies, vampires, a strobe light maze and three haunted houses have taken over the . The Living Dead Stage also features two nightly shows. The houses are open from 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For a full schedule, visit their website here.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Pet Food Express Opening – Want to see Tillman, the skateboarding dog? If so, you’re in luck because he will be riding in Roseville this weekend for the grand opening celebration at Pet Food Express at the Fountains at Roseville. Other festivities will also center around canine friends like K-9 training demonstrations, entertainment and more. A Save a K-9 fundraiser will run Saturday and Sunday at the store.

Classic Car Show – Get a glimpse of some classic cars at the Mala Noche Car Show Saturday in Old Town Roseville. The show will feature live music and vendors from 4-10 p.m. For more information, contact Poli’s Barbershop at 916-425-776.

Third Saturday Art Walk – Local businesses will keep their doors open a little later than normal to encourage you to walk, wander and peruse local art during the 3rd Saturday Art Walk. Sunday, Oct. 16

AuPair Fall Fun – If you host an aupair or are considering it, check out AuPairCare’s annual Host Family and AuPair Fall Fun Day on Sunday. The hoedown theme will feature games, pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples, a pie-eating contest, dancing and more. The event is free and open to anyone interested in learning about the program. Author Brunch – The Roseville Public Library Foundation is hosting a brunch with author John Lescroart at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Hawks Restaurant in Granite Bay. Lescroart is a New York Times bestselling crime author. For more information, visit the city’s website here.
