Friday:

Friday Night Art - Spend your Friday night creating art at the Kids Studio of Fine Arts in Roseville during their “Pay it Forward Friday Nights.” Adults ages 18 and up can work independently during this open studio night. The only cost? Donations. All of the proceeds will go toward the Kids Studio of Fine Arts Scholarship Fund.

Nordstrom Fashion Show - BP Nordstrom will fill you in on the fall fashions at a fashion show Saturday at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. The show will feature homecoming attire, fall favorites, a DJ and prizes. The Fall Fashion Show is hosted by the 2011-12 BP Fashion Board.

Bake Sale Benefits Alzheimer Association - Indulge in some sweets guilt-free because by devouring that cookie, you’ll be helping to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s set for Oct. 1, according to The Sacramento Bee. BrightStar Roseville, a homecare group, will be hosting the bake sale and yard sale in Folsom. Donations are accepted before the yard sale.

Family Volunteer Day at the Food Bank - Placer Food Bank is hosting a Family Volunteer Day that includes kids activities, free farmers market, nutrition booths, volunteer activities and more. It’s part of month-long efforts to help alleviate hunger in Placer County – September is Hunger Action Month.

Maidu Museum For Free - If you’ve always wanted to visit the Maidu Museum in Roseville, Saturday is your chance to visit for free. The museum is opening its doors for free for Museum Day. If you’ve never been, here’s what you’re in for: the featured exhibit is The American Indian: American Indians in the American Imagination; curated by Brian Baker. The exhibit highlights seven major themes and features more than 100 examples of how Native American imagery is used in advertising and popular culture.

Honey Festival - Here’s something sweet to fill up your weekend: the 2nd annual Placer County Honey Festival. The festival features a honey pancake breakfast, cornbread baking contest, a 3K and 5K run/walk, an Iron Chef-inspired barbecue event and almost 100 booths filled with activities, demos and giveaways. “Aunt Bee” will be your entertainment.

Film Making Workshop - Curious about making your own film? If it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, check out a film workshop called “Overcoming the Catch 22’s of Making Your First Feature Film.” It’s hosted by IndieCon and will include advice from indie producers and actors from Hollowood and feature a Q&A, according to The Sacramento Bee. They’ll talk about how you can get your foot in the door to the filmmaking world and film technique. Tickets cost $29 online prior to the event or $39 at the door.

Music in the Park - End your weekend on a high note by driving (or walking) over to Royer Park Sunday night for Music in the Park. “Mumbo Gumbo” will be performing and according to the group’s website, it should be a night full of rock and roll and soul to country and dance music. They say it’s the sound of sheer joy!
