Westfield Galleria at Roseville to Unveil The Park on the Promenade

If you’ve been to the lately, you’ve probably noticed foot traffic re-directed around construction on the outdoor promenade.

Construction crews are gearing up for the grand opening of The Park on the Promenade, a new outdoor gathering space that will include children’s play areas, seating and a backdrop for future events.

Stephanie Ringey, spokeswoman for the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, said The Park will be “a gathering spot for everybody.” It will be “just a terrific place to gather — a place to take a break when you’re shopping either with the kids or without,” she said.

The Park is an approximately 2,000-square-foot space in the outdoor promenade that will fill the space between the new Starbucks and Brooks Brothers. The space will have a resilient, (or smooshy), surface safe for kids playing, shade structures, a climbing structure for older children, boomerang-shaped seating and a musical metal art piece that will make music when kids play on it.

The grand opening of the Park will be held Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24 and will feature three days of family fun. Friday’s Party in the Park includes face painting, games and a free “Party Pak” to the first 300 people (one lucky person will also get a chance to win a $100 gift card). On Saturday, Art in the Park will feature sidewalk chalk artists and Sunday’s Music in the Park festivities include a steel drum band.

If you attend The Park’s grand opening, you can also be entered to win a trip for four to another family-friendly park: Disneyland. The trip includes a stay at the Disneyland Resort hotel, park tickets and airfare for four. The giveaway coincides with the opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park.

As a pre-grand opening party, the mall has partnered with Blue Line Gallery to host Beach Bash from 6-9 p.m. June 16 on the promenade. During the fundraiser, they’ll have live music by The Landsharks, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band and a life-sized sandcastle created by the Travel Channel’s Sand Masters. The 20-ton sand sculpture will also be on display during The Park on the Promenade’s grand opening weekend.
