Writer Takes on Roseville Stereotype: We Don't All Wear Ed Hardy

A Sacramento Press writer hopes to squash that Roseville stereotype in an opinion piece.

In a Sacramento Press opinion piece, one writer gives her two-cents on living in the Roseville/Rocklin area. The article, “No, Not Everyone Who Lives in Roseville wears Ed Hardy,” has drawn quite the response from people on the Sacramento Press website.

The writer defends Roseville residents from some common stereotypes people living in Midtown Sacramento may have toward those of us living in the suburbs. Stereotypes like Ed Hardy-wearing, bleach-blond, over-tanned and BMW-driving.

Not sure what Ed Hardy is? It's a brand of clothing that mimics tattoo art, but instead of ink on your skin, it's on your shirt. It's also known as tattoo clothing.

Back to the opinion peice – it triggered quite the conversation Monday. People commented back and fourth on the stereotypes of Roseville versus Midtown Sacramento.

In one comment, the author wrote: “My basis for this piece was to prove that stereotypes are everywhere, and none are better than the other. Also, for people to step out of their comfort zones and expand, explore new horizons ... instead of choosing not to do so based on rumors.”
