California Man Killed Mom Over Broken Video Game Headset: Cops
Police say the man became upset and started yelling while playing video games when his mother went to check on him.

CERES, CA — A 28-year-old man is accused of killing his mother after apparently becoming upset at her over a broken video game headset, police said.
Police is Ceres, California said they responded to a home Thursday night for a woman who was allegedly shot inside. When officers arrived on scene, they transported a 68-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head to the hospital where she later died.
According to police, the woman's son, identified as Matthew Nicholson, 28, was in his bedroom in the home playing video games when he allegedly became upset and started yelling. Police say when his mother went to check on him, he began to argue with her and ended up breaking the headset to his video game.

He allegedly blamed her for the broken headset and threatened to kill her and his father, police say. Nicholson allegedly fired two rounds in the wall of the home before shooting his mother in the head, police said.
According to police, Nicholson's father was able to take the gun away from him. Nicholson allegedly fled the scene and went to a relative's home before police conducted a high-risk stop and took him into custody.
