California Single-Payer Health Care Proposal Passes Senate: Report

SACRAMENTO, CA — A $400 billion single-payer health care proposal moved through the California State Senate Thursday night, but experts warn not to expect anything any time soon, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
The bill, proposed by Democratic Sen. Ricardo Lara, goes to the state Assembly for consideration, according to the report. It would provide a system that would guarantee health coverage for all Californians without the out-of-pocket costs.
