Sacramento Teacher Receives $1500 Classroom Boost
An online company donated the money to cover the teacher's Amazon School Supply Wish List.
SACRAMENTO — Sacramento teacher Kirsten Gothold received $1,500 to have her Amazon Wish List cleared by online company RetailMeNot.
The company said that Gothold "captured our hearts, with her love of learning, her students and promoting inclusion and equity in education. Kirsten had her $1,500 Wish List cleared, and she can't wait to use the supplies to help build new skills, view the solar eclipse, and all sorts of fun, educational activities."
Nearly 3,000 teachers entered the contest with three winners selected.

RetailMeNot launched its 'Clear the List' giveaway in August to reward teachers with a break on their school supply budgets.
Among the supplies won by Gothold are handwriting books to learn cursive this year, stopwatches for students to time themselves in repeated readings to become better readers, and solar eclipse glasses to view the solar eclipse together later this month.
