1 Hospitalized In Poway Crash Involving Fuel Truck
County hazardous materials teams responded to clean up a minor fuel leak from the tractor part of the truck, authorities said.
POWAY, CA — One person was hospitalized after a crash involving a gas tanker near state Route 67 in Poway, authorities said.
A fuel truck and a GMC Hummer collided around 5:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of SR-67 and Ellie Lane, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrived and learned that the driver of the Hummer driver was headed southbound on SR-67 when the motorist lost control, crossed over the median and collided with the fuel truck, sheriff’s Sgt. Saleem Payman said in a news release.

The driver of the Hummer was taken to a hospital to be treated for a head injury, Payman said. The driver of the fuel tanker reported pain but did not require medical attention.

"The leak did not involve the tanker trailer itself and was quickly contained with no further environmental impact," Payman said.
The crash remained under investigation.
