1 Person Injured On Cowles Mountain Trail
Rescuers were dispatched to the popular hiking destination, located in the Mission Trails Regional Park.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A person injured on the main Cowles Mountain trail Saturday was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Just before 2 p.m., rescuers were dispatched to the popular hiking destination, located in the Mission Trails Regional Park. According to the SDFD, the unidentified person was airlifted off the mountain during a procedure that took between 15 and 20 minutes. No details on the person's injuries were immediately available.
One SDFD official said the rescue "was a fairly routine operation on a nice spring-like day on a Saturday."

Personnel from the city of La Mesa also assisted on the call, which also involved 24 personnel and several vehicles.
The Cowles Mountain rescue was the second for the SDFD on Saturday, as a crew was also dispatched to Carmel Valley Road, near Black Mountain Open Space Park.
