SAN DIEGO, CA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a gradual warming trend this week, according to the National Weather Service.

"Minor day-to-day variations in temperatures through Tuesday," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Sunday. "A gradual warming trend is expected for the middle to end of the week. The marine layer will bring night and morning low clouds to coastal areas through the week. Low clouds are expected to reach into the valleys at times, most likely during the first half of the week.

In other news, local and state authorities were monitoring for potential fallout after the U.S. military bombed three nuclear sites in Iran. California Gov. Gavin Newsom said state officials were on alert.

"Following the President's action in Iran, California's State Threat Assessment Center is actively monitoring for any potential impacts in California," Newsom said in a post on X. "While there are no specific or credible counter threats we are aware of at this time, we urge everyone to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity."

Also, five people were arrested for assaulting three police officers; six teens were wounded in a shooting; 10 dogs died while in the care of an animal trainer; and thousands were impacted by power shutoffs over the weekend.
