11 Migrants Detained In San Diego Bay

SAN DIEGO, CA — Eleven migrants were detained over the weekend in the San Diego Bay, authorities said.
Crew members aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Haddock spotted two suspected human-smuggling boats around crossing the maritime boundary line around noon Sunday, according to the Coast Guard.
The first vessel dropped off four migrants north of the Zuniga Jetty near the Ammo Pier at Naval Air Station North Island, where they were apprehended by Navy security and Border Patrol agents, according to the Coast Guard.

Boarding team members aboard the Haddock then intercepted the vessel, detaining one migrant, while Station San Diego crew members stopped the second vessel carrying six migrants in the San Diego Bay.
The 11 men all claimed to be Mexican nationals, the Coast Guard said. They were in the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol.
