Upon failure of lifesaving efforts, paramedics pronounced the victims deceased at the scene and both drivers involved in the collision were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision was under investigation but "due to the nature of the injuries sustained during the collision, a DUI evaluation could not be done prior to the drivers being taken to the hospital," according to department. Blood samples collected from the drivers will be tested.
The intersection of Buena Vista Avenue and Broadway was temporarily closed for investigation, but was reopened around 8 p.m.
