3 Dogs Kill Their Owner, Injure Another At San Diego Park
All three dogs were subsequently signed over to San Diego Humane Society by a second owner, who agreed to have them humanely euthanized.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was fatally attacked by his three dogs and another person who tried to help was injured at a park in San Diego, authorities said Sunday.
Officers responded shortly before 12:15 p.m. Friday to reports of a dog attack at Mesa Viking Neighborhood Park in the Mira Mesa neighborhood, according to San Diego Humane Society.
Humane officers worked with the San Diego Police Department to find two dogs that were on the loose and safely impounded a third dog that had been secured in a vehicle, according to San Diego Humane Society.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, Fox5 reported. His name was not immediately available.
A second person suffered serious bite injuries while trying to help the first victim, according to San Diego Humane Society. The victim was located Saturday and was recovering at a hospital.

Video footage was obtained showing the dogs' owner walking the three dogs toward the park about two hours before San Diego Humane Society received the call for assistance from the SDPD.
All three dogs were subsequently signed over to San Diego Humane Society by a second owner, who agreed to have them humanely euthanized, according to the organization.
"The second owner disclosed that the dogs had been purchased as 'XL bully breeds,'" San Diego Humane Society said in a news release. "There is no previous history involving these dogs in San Diego Humane Society's records."
As part of the organization's standard protocols, rabies testing will be completed.
"Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," San Diego Humane Society said in a statement.
