SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a gradual warming trend to continue through the coming week, according to the National Weather Service.
"High temperatures will warm for Tuesday through Thursday and Friday with high temperatures on Friday around 10 degrees above average for portions of the mountains and inland valleys," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday. "For next weekend, a low pressure system to the north will bring more clouds, spread cooling inland with gusty west winds for the mountains and deserts, and bring a chance of showers, mainly from the coastal waters to the mountains.

In other news, one person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a house party in the South Bay area of San Diego County, police said. Police could not confirm media reports that the victim who died at the scene was a 12-year-old boy. The four injured victims were taken to local hospitals.
Four people were shot and two others suffered stab wounds during an assault at a home in Riverside, authorities said. Three people suffered critical injuries and three others suffered moderate injuries.

Four people were injured after a plane crashed near the drag strip at the Pomona Fairplex during a hot rod event, hitting several vehicles, including a row of RVs, according to police. No bystanders were hurt, but the pilot and three occupants of the single-engine plane all suffered injuries and were being treated at an area hospital.
A suspect fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers slammed into a freeway guardrail before crashing into the roof of a Los Angeles County home, authorities said. The driver of a Dodge Durango lost control of the vehicle as it exited the freeway, careened into the guardrail and landed on the roof of a home.
Plus, the nation's first-known case of a more aggressive strain of mpox was detected in California, officials said. A patient was treated for clade I mpox, according to the California Department of Public Health. They are isolating at home and recovering.
