Average San Diego County Gas Price Drops To Lowest Amount Since 2022

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in San Diego County has dropped $1.932 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Dec. 30, 2022, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.503.

The average price has dropped seven of the past eight days, decreasing 2.7 cents, including two-tenths of a cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

It dropped nine-tenths of a cent Friday, rose eight-tenths of a cent Saturday then resumed decreasing Sunday.

The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago, 6.8 cents lower than one month ago and 39.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.932 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.

While "it's hard to say how much lower they will drop" Southern California "gas prices often decrease during" December, said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

The national average price decreased for the ninth consecutive day, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $3.026. It has decreased 4.7 cents over the past nine days, including one-tenth of a cent Thursday, after back-to-back increases totaling 1.7 cents.

The national average price is 3.7 cents less than one week ago, 8.1 cents lower than one month ago and 19 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.99 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
