Bicycle Rider Suffers Broken Bones In San Diego Crash With Vehicle
He was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 17-year-old boy on a bicycle suffered broken bones Saturday when he was struck by a car while crossing a street in the Fairmont Village neighborhood of San Diego.
The crash occurred at 4:20 p.m. Saturday at Fairmont Avenue and Dwight Street, according to San Diego Police Officer J. Perales.
The bicycle rider was southbound on the east sidewalk of Fairmont while a 20-year-old man in a vehicle was stopped at a red light at Dwight, preparing to turn right, the officer said.

As the motorist began his turn, the teen entered the roadway within the pedestrian crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle, Perales said. The boy sustained a "fractured left femur and a shattered left ankle." He was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Alcohol was not believed a factor in the crash, Perales said.
