Bill Simmons Urges San Diegans to Vote Down 'Convadium'

Sports columnist Bill Simmons used his weekly HBO talk show to lobby against San Diego's Measure C on a new football stadium.

SAN DIEGO - Bill Simmons took a swing at billionaire San Diego Chargers chairman Dean Spanos in a segment on his HBO talk show "Any Given Wednesday."

The sports columnist argued that Spanos is using the same tactics lobbying for 'yes' votes on Measure C that he used to build last year's 4-12 Chargers team: bad offense, bad defense, bad special teams.

With some help from San Diego native Tony Hawk, Simmons urged voters to vote against spending $1.15 billion on a new 'Convadium' (stadium and convention center). Watch the segment below.

Simmons may get his wish on Nov. 8. In the latest polls, support for Measure C was still below 50 percent (39%) and far short of the two-thirds majority required for approval.
