Boat Hits USS Midway, Causing $100K In Damage To Decommissioned Aircraft Carrier: Police
Video of the boat striking the decommissioned carrier, which is now a museum, was circulating on social media over the weekend.
SAN DIEGO, CA — The operator of a boat was arrested Friday after crashing into the USS Midway and fleeing the scene, according to police.
The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. in the Port of San Diego, where the decommissioned aircraft carrier, which is now a museum, was docked, Lt. Dan Moen, of the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department, told Patch.
The pleasure craft hit the mid-ship of the floating museum and the operator fled but was arrested within a few hours for hit-and-run boating and suspected boating under the influence, according to Moen. Video of the incident was circulating on social media over the weekend.

No one was hurt but the damage to the museum is estimated at $100,000, Moen said.
