Brush Fire Prompts Evacuation Warning In North San Diego County

VALLEY CENTER, CA — A brush fire prompted an evacuation warning Wednesday afternoon in northern San Diego County.
The blaze, called the Keys Fire, sparked near Lilac and Keys Creek roads in Valley Center, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
Ground and airborne crews have halted the spread of the fire, which burned 18 acres, down from an earlier estimate of 50 acres, Cal Fire said. No structural damage or injuries were reported.

An evacuation warning was issued for residents in the shaded area of the map below, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
"It means you must prepare to evacuate now so you are ready to leave when conditions change," the department said on social media. "We urge everyone in the zone to have their evacuation plans in place and to communicate with their families and neighbors."

North County Fire Protection District issued a smoke advisory for the district, which serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow. Although smoke was visible in the area, there was no threat to the district.
