Here are the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. What do Mayor Todd Gloria and Gov. Gavin Newsom have in common? They both want to overhaul the state’s conservatorship process and make it easier to force vulnerable homeless people into care. Gloria thinks the state law should be expanded to cover troubled persons who would not currently meet the bar for conservatorships. Newsom’s team and other California mayors will hash out detailed proposals in the coming weeks and months. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Voice of San Diego)
  2. Looking to make a day trip but not sure where to go this time of year? The beach is still the place to be. Bundle up and enjoy the sea air. Visit the tide pools at Cabrillo. Walk the beach and find marine life. Kayak at La Jolla Shores and visit the La Jolla Sea Caves. Visit the Birch Aquarium at Scripps and do some whale watching while you are there. Take in the waves and famous the San Diego sunsets. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Los Angeles Times)
  3. A small, mouse-like rodent has tested positive for hantavirus, a potentially deadly viral disease. Do not sweep up or vacuum up after wild rodents if you find them in their homes, garages, sheds, cabins or other living spaces. Use "wet-cleaning" methods instead to keep from breathing in the virus and getting sick. Find out how to protect yourself and your family. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
