Cold, Wet Sunday Forecast As Winter Storm Moves Into San Diego Region

Cooler, cloudier and wetter conditions in San Diego County were forecast for Sunday through early next week as a winter storm moves in, the National Weather Service said.

“A winter storm will move in from the north today, bringing rain, wind and mountain snowfall to the region, which will last through early Tuesday,” the weather service said.

Scattered showers were possible by Sunday morning with the bulk of the precipitation falling late Sunday into Monday before tapering off into Tuesday, forecasters said.

Snow levels could be low, resulting in significant snow accumulations which were expected to impact major mountain passes. Up to 8 inches ae possible on Mt. Palomar and Mt. Laguna.

Highs Sunday will be only around 58 along the coast, 57 in the western valleys, 48 to 53 near the foothills, 41 to 50 in the mountains and 63 to 67 in the deserts.

Dry conditions should return by late Tuesday, with periods of offshore winds and warmer conditions expected through the end of the week.

No hazardous marine weather conditions were expected through next Wednesday, except for gusts from the west around 20 knots Sunday afternoon and night over the coastal waters.
