A passer-by made an emergency to report spotting the dead man in shallow water near Dog Beach, officials said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A body, possibly that of a kayaker who went missing last week, washed ashore in Ocean Beach Wednesday.
A passer-by made an emergency call about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to report spotting the dead man in shallow water near Dog Beach, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The county Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body for identification and autopsy purposes.

Lifeguards and police had conducted several searches for the missing kayaker since he was reported missing Friday, city spokesman Jose Ysea said.
On Wednesday morning, surfers reported seeing an apparently dead person floating in the swells off the Ocean Beach coastline. Authorities scanned the ocean and shore in the area for about an hour, finding no sign of a body, Ysea said.
