Deputies Seize Plastic BB Gun Taken To East County School
"The safety of our school children is a priority for the Sheriff's Office," the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
LEMON GROVE, CA —Authorities questioned a 14-year-old after the student brought a plastic BB gun to an East County school.
Other students saw the teen with a replica firearm in their backpack shortly before 2 p.m. Friday at Lemon Grove Academy Middle School, but didn't report the incident to school staff members until Monday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. School administrators contacted the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation.
Detectives contacted the student and their parents and seized the firearm, which turned out to be a plastic BB gun, according to the Sheriff's Office. There were no known threats against Lemon Grove Academy Middle School.

No other information was released about the student.
