SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should know a red flag warning for dangerous fire weather conditions will be in effect starting Monday in many portions of the region, according to the National Weather Service.
"After morning low clouds and fog along the coast and valleys, a strong and damaging Santa Ana wind event will develop across the Southland through tonight into Tuesday," NWS Los Angeles forecasters wrote Monday. "An offshore flow pattern is likely through Wednesday bringing critical fire weather conditions the area gusty northeast to east winds and low humidity."

In other news, a 5-year-old girl was mauled on the head and torso as her father tried to protect her from two large family dogs in their backyard in Los Angeles County, authorities said. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Ten people were injured when a police officer crashed his motorcycle into a crowd during a holiday parade in Palm Springs, officials said.

Police arrested a San Diego man in southern Orange County after he led them on a vehicle pursuit that began in Irvine and continued when he jumped in a kayak and rowed to a boat in Newport Beach Harbor, authorities said.
