SAN DIEGO, CA — A 22-year-old man faces a murder charge for allegedly ramming a motorcyclist with his car on Interstate 805 intentionally last weekend, killing him, authorities reported Wednesday.

Ulysses Jimenez of San Diego was heading south on the freeway in a carpool lane when he rear-ended the 2025 BMW two-wheeler with his 2023 Tesla Model Y near Telegraph Canyon Road in Chula Vista at about 8 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Jorge Uribe of Chula Vista, fell onto the roadway and died at the scene, according to the CHP and San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Following the collision, the Tesla struck a 2012 Ram 1500, the Highway Patrol reported. The driver of the pickup truck and his five passengers were transported to hospitals for treatment of minor to moderately serious injuries.

Jimenez allegedly fled the scene of the crashes but was arrested nearby a short time later.

The motive for the alleged vehicular assault remained under investigation Wednesday, CHP public-affairs Officer Jared Grieshaber said.
